DESIGNING CONSEQUENCES

Designing Consequences is a theoratical discourse that began with a simple question: What can a designer do in today's seemingly 'unsustainable' world?

Through research into 'sustainable design', the exploration became an advocation, of Design as communicator; to project and highlight potential changes caused by our industrial developments. By doing so, the designer does not judge, but tries to offer a better informed decision making process that guides our daily choices. This is in understanding that our common future, is shaped by everyday choices taken by each individual. By influencing the choices made, Design influences the demand of a particular future, and becomes an extremely audible voice that will shape future developmental directions.

Away from the usual role of solution provider, Designing Consequences suggests an anti-heroic role of Design as social choreographer. If designing a solution is to be seen as an act of writing, then Designing Consequences is really about the prior state of any writing; the mysterious chasm of thought that eventually formulates what is to be penned.
