![]() Designing Water Consequences (2008) : activated carbon 'ice cubes' Studies recently found traces of industrial chemicals in our drinking water systems. They include pharmaceutical and personal care (PPCP), jet fuel and endocrine disrupting chemicals. There is increasing public concern about the quality of domestic water. Aligning with the general shift towards the concept of “Locality”; that the production of products, food and energy will shift towards localized and decentralized systems, there can be seen an increasing shift in responsibility to treat water from the centralized government to the individual household. The trend is that water provided will be ‘safe’ on a general level but the responsibility of purity will lie on each individual. What filtration products will we be using then? How will it affect the way we view our relationship with water? A series of domestic objects are augmented to reflect this cultural shift from infusion to absorption. |
